A fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Land Agent to play a pivotal role within one of the UK’s largest and most progressive landed estates, balancing the careful stewardship of traditional assets with the creativity and innovation needed to unlock and deliver new ventures.
The Welbeck Estate is one of the great, historic, private landed estates, centred on Welbeck Abbey which lies in the ‘Dukeries’ of Nottinghamshire. Steeped in heritage, it remains in the hands of the descendants of the 7th Duke of Portland. Extending to approximately 15,500 acres, the Estate encompasses significant commercial, agricultural, residential and woodland interests, alongside a strong commitment to natural capital.
The Estate forms the cornerstone of one of the country’s most distinguished rural property portfolios, complemented by two further landed estates in Caithness and Northumberland, in addition to land holdings in Lincolnshire and a diversified commercial investment portfolio. The Group represents a collection of assets of national importance, blending historic prestige with modern enterprise on an impressive scale.
The Role
Reporting to the Estates Director and maintaining regular contact with the Family, this role encompasses many aspects of managing a diverse rural business. Key duties will include managing and enhancing the Estate’s let portfolio – providing oversight of the let farms and guiding the strategic direction of the residential properties.
In addition to identifying and developing new revenue streams, this role will be central to delivering growth and innovation across the Estate. The successful candidate will lead a diverse range of projects and is expected to be a proactive and energetic individual, capable of taking ownership and delivering initiatives from the outset.
The Candidate
- Experienced in estate management, ideally MRICS or FAAV qualified, with a track record in managing existing operations and generating new revenue.
- Self-motivated, strategic, and commercially astute, always seeking opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Ambitious and proactive, willing to take ownership and responsibility.
- Organised, methodical and detail focused.
- Collaborative yet independent, confident in building relationships and managing a diverse range of stakeholders.
This is an exceptional opportunity to advance your career, broaden your estate management experience, assume greater responsibilities, and play an important role in shaping the strategic future of a substantial, forward-thinking Estate within a supportive and rewarding environment.
