Estates Surveyor (Recently qualified or a few years pqe) – Duchy of Lancaster – London

London
REF: 10090

The Duchy of Lancaster is a private estate owned by Her Majesty The Queen, as Duke of Lancaster. The rural estate consists of approximately 45,000 acres of land in England and Wales which is divided into five ‘Rural Surveys’ and comprises commercial, agricultural, and residential properties (Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Staffordshire and Southern). Additionally, the Duchy has a significant commercial property portfolio known as the ‘Urban Survey’, as well as separate Minerals and Foreshore Portfolios.

The position

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Estates Surveyor to join the growing in-house rural surveying team to support the management of mixed assets across the Southern Survey.

The Southern Survey is a mixture of real estate with a wide geographic reach from Northamptonshire to South Wales including livestock and arable farms, commercial and leisure property, renewable energy assets, Moorland and Common Land, and residential dwellings.  The Survey also contains several large-scale development opportunities, so part of the role will involve liaison between the strategic land team and stakeholders, including tenants.

The successful candidate will also provide support to the Head of Rural in the strategic delivery of objectives across the Rural and Minerals portfolios including the development of portfolio-wide initiatives in relation to the severed minerals and the Duchy’s charitable function.

The Location

The role will be based in London, and will involve some travel across the Survey, as well as occasionally to the office in Lancaster.

The person

  • MRICS; newly qualified or with a few years post qualification experience and a proven track record in rural asset management.
  • Dynamic and self-motivated with the initiative and drive to deliver results.
  • A team player, reliable, friendly, with excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Organised, able to multitask, prioritise activities and work independently with minimum supervision when required.
