The Duchy of Lancaster is a private estate owned by His Majesty The King, as Duke of Lancaster. The rural estate consists of approximately 45,000 acres of land in England and Wales which is divided into five ‘Rural Surveys’ and comprises commercial, agricultural, and residential properties (Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Staffordshire and Southern). Additionally, the Duchy has a significant commercial property portfolio known as the ‘Urban Survey’, as well as separate Minerals and Foreshore Portfolios.
The position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Estates Surveyor to join the growing in-house rural surveying team to support and work closely with the Senior Estates Surveyors on the day-to-day management and strategic delivery of projects across the Cheshire and Lancashire Surveys, which comprise a diverse mix of assets. They will also assist the Senior Estates Surveyors and Head of Rural Investment on portfolio-wide matters, including sustainability initiatives and opportunities through the implementation of a land-use strategy.
The Location
Working as part of a small team, the successful candidate will be based in our Lancaster Castle Office and will be expected to travel to and from the Cheshire and Lancashire Surveys on a regular basis. Occasional travel will also be required to the Head Office in London.
The person
- Experience in rural estate management ideally MRICS / CAAV although candidates with relevant property experience without qualifications will be considered.
- FAAV; Fellow or Probationer of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers desirable
- A good understanding of Rural Estate Management.
- Dynamic and self-motivated with the initiative and drive to deliver results.
- A team player, reliable, friendly, with excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships.
- Organised, able to multitask, prioritise activities and work independently with minimum supervision when required.
