A unique opportunity to take responsibility for the Rowborough Estate, a privately owned sporting estate situated in the undulating hills of the Isle of Wight’s largest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Estate forms part of a wider family-owned portfolio of trading assets and luxury businesses.
The Estate currently comprises a mixed portfolio of let farms on AHA’s and FBT’s, in-hand farming opportunities, a large area of in-hand woodland, as well as residential properties, a long-established driven pheasant & partridge shoot, development projects and significant potential for growth.
The Location
Located just off the south coast of England, the Isle of Wight offers an exceptional quality of life and excellent transport links to the mainland. Frequent ferry services operate from Portsmouth, Lymington and Southampton, all of which are served well by the UK’s motorway and rail network. Journey times from London to the ferry ports are typically 1.5 – 2 hours by car.
The Position
The Estate is seeking a full-time Estate Manager to lead operations and drive business growth. This new position presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to manage and develop a diverse Estate, with ample opportunity for new initiatives across both agricultural and non-agricultural sectors to ensure financial sustainability.
This is a new and influential position, offering the opportunity to help shape the Estate’s future direction. The successful candidate will sit on the Estate’s strategic board, working with the owners and contributing to quarterly board meetings to help achieve the Estate’s vision.
The Candidate
We are looking for a dynamic, resourceful and proactive person who can juggle the many different aspects of day-to-day life on the Estate and manage and inspire a small team. Essential qualities and experience include:
- Either MRICS or CAAV qualified (or equivalent experience in estate management)
- Proven ability to manage operations, drive performance, and create new revenue streams
- Sound understanding of farming, and estate and land management
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and relationship building skills
- Financial literacy, including budgeting, strategic planning, and performance analysis
- A hands-on, independent approach, combined with strong teamworking skills
- A genuine interest in sustainability and the countryside
