A forward thinking, diverse, and growing rural estate business, the Knowsley Estate sits largely in the Liverpool City Region and is centred around the magnificent Knowsley Hall, ancestral home of the Earl and Countess of Derby. The Hall is a leading venue for corporate events and weddings, which together with the infamous Knowsley Safari Park are an important source of income.

The Position

Reporting to the Estates Director, a career progressing opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Estate Manager to take a lead role running the tenanted Knowsley Estate which includes significant commercial, residential, and agricultural property interests, as well as traditional activities of in-hand farming, sporting, and forestry across 12,000 acres.

Responsibilities will include the management and enhancement of both the traditional and entrepreneurial elements of all aspects of the wide-ranging rural and property portfolios. You will also work in collaboration with colleagues across the Knowsley businesses to drive efficiency and unearth new development opportunities, ensuring the land and buildings are utilised in the most financially and environmentally sustainable way, equipping the Estate for the dynamic opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for the UK rural economy.

The Candidate

  • An MRICS qualified rural Chartered Surveyor, with around 5-10 years PQE, and a track record in managing existing operations and identifying areas for improvement and new revenue generation on diverse rural estates.
  • A self-motivated and driven individual who thinks strategically and has the tenacity to see demanding and long-term projects through to fruition, and who is also sensitive to heritage and the ethos of a multi-generational family estate.
  • As a key representative of the Family and Estate, you will be an engaging and professional character with strong communication skills, able to interact and develop strong relationships with tenants, local authorities, and people in broader communities to reinforce the productive and collaborative environment within which the Estate operates.
  • A team player with leadership qualities, energetic, resourceful, reliable and hands on with good attention to detail, organised and able to balance multiple priorities.
