Estate Manager – Thurlow Estate, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex Border

Suffolk
REF: 10130

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven, commercially minded, forward-thinking Estate Manager to join the senior leadership team at the Thurlow Estate. This is a pivotal role for an ambitious individual looking to take the next step in their career, broaden their estate management experience, and play a hands-on role as part of a proactive, dynamic and energetic team in shaping the future direction of a progressive and evolving rural estate.

The Thurlow Estate is a family-owned rural property business extending to approximately 15,500 acres, centred around the villages of Little and Great Thurlow, Suffolk. The Estate comprises an in-hand arable farming operation, let agricultural land, woodland, residential cottages, commercial property, and an in-hand family shoot, offering a varied and stimulating management environment.

Situated on the Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex borders, the Estate benefits from a great location with excellent connectivity. Cambridge lies just 18 miles away and provides fast, direct rail services to London King’s Cross in around 50 minutes, while Whittlesford Parkway offers direct access to London Liverpool Street in approximately 63 minutes. The Estate also enjoys convenient access to Stansted Airport, located some 36 miles to the south.

Based at the Estate Office in Great Thurlow, the Estate Manager will be a key member of the senior leadership and estate management team, working closely with the Estate Director to deliver a first-class service to the Family and drive the business forward. The role will involve responsibility for the day-to-day management of the let property portfolio (residential, commercial, agricultural, miscellaneous), woodlands and game, alongside involvement in wider estate matters, and the opportunity to contribute to a range of strategic projects.

This position is ideally suited to someone with energy, initiative and ambition, and an individual who enjoys responsibility, thrives on variety and a fast-paced environment, and is keen to make a genuine impact through their commercial acumen and personable approach.
