Upland Land Agent, Duchy of Cornwall, Princetown, Dartmoor

Dartmoor
REF: 10107

A unique opportunity for an Upland Land Agent to join the Duchy of Cornwall and be a key player in driving the implementation of an exciting vision for the Dartmoor Estate, as a nature rich landscape to help deliver positive impact for people, place and planet.

Dartmoor, the largest of the Duchy of Cornwall’s land holdings at just over 63,000 acres, comprises approximately one third of the Dartmoor National Park. It includes 21 let farms, 26 miles of river, woodland, a substantial area of common land, and a significant residential and commercial property portfolio.

The successful candidate will be the primary relationship holder with the farming community and responsible for the management of the Duchy’s upland estate with the assistance of a local estate team and in collaboration with the wider Duchy team.

Key elements of the role include proactive engagement with a wide range of stakeholders including Dartmoor National Park Authority, Ministry of Defence, and various community organisations. In addition to managing landlord and tenant matters within the Duchy’s upland property portfolio, you will contribute to achieving its net zero targets, support peatland restoration efforts, and help drive financial performance.

The position will suit a dynamic, resourceful and proactive person who is community orientated and can build strong relationships. Candidate qualities we are looking for include:

  • MRICS/CAAV, with a solid understanding of estate management.
  • Experience of, and a genuine interest in, upland farming and environmental stewardship, and a commitment to enhancing sustainability and conservation efforts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and persuade a variety of audiences, and always act with professionalism and integrity.
  • Commercial acumen with experience of financial budgeting.
  • A team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and operate independently.
